Chillin in Chillicothe

Filed under: General — josiah @ 12:37 am

A few weeks ago we went through a short list of places to go for a weekend getaway. On Friday of the weekend we planned on going somewhere we were still deciding what to do. Somehow “Outdoor Drama in Chillicothe” popped into my head (advertisement in a magazine?). Sarah researched the Atwood House bed and breakfast in Chillicothe after looking at the Tecumseh website. Called Friday for tickets for the Tecumseh drama and reserved a room at the bed & breakfast for Saturday.

Not knowing exactly what to expect from a bed and breakfast, I was totally impressed with The Atwood House. The owner/operator (Bill?) actually really makes you feel like guests in his home. He had been a Butler for the past twenty years, so he said the whole service part of the jobs came natural. I have really not been somewhere so clean and well taken care of- no dust, and I was even looking for it (because it was so out of the ordinary I guess?) So, we checked in at the Atwood House, did a short walking tour of downtown Chillicothe which was ended up being about one block because of the heat (there are some old houses!), and then sat down for dinner at the Smokehouse on Water Street. The smoked pulled pork there is totally awesome, too bad I got a Buffalo Burger (it was good too, Indian theme?). Later we went to Tecumseh, where the acting was great, pyrotechnics were soundly, and the equestrian experience had a questionable odor (I also could have been my seat neighbor, or the paper mill, it was hard to say).

An overnight in Chillicothe was fun, and no one paid me to say this.
